2013-2014 Lifestyle Sports Waterfront 5k Series - Race 32
Tuesday, 25 March 2014
Thank you for coming to tonight's Waterfront 5k, the second to last of the season.
We had 77 runners and walkers participate tonight. Everyone was trying to beat the storm in so some excellent times were recorded.
Fraser Samson won the men's walking race again, in 29:54. The leading female walker was Leanne Palmer in 35:13.
Winning the men's running race was Jason Waite, who also won last week’s race. He cruised in to the finish line in 16:50. Our first female runner home was Rebecca Keat in 18:23. Tonight we also had our youngest participant of the season, Gracie Thompson who recently turned 7.
A big thanks to our volunteers who braved the cold tonight from Wellington Scottish Men's team.
And thanks to our sponsors - in particular Lifestyle Sports for the weekly gift voucher and Chicago Sports Cafe for the free drink afterwards and bar tabs as spot prizes. Lifestyle has a very extensive range of running shoes. If you can't get to the shop in Tawa, send Manager Karen an email (firstname.lastname@example.org). She would be more than happy to answer your questions or source a pair of your favourite shoes.
Wellington Scottish Athletics Club will soon be starting its 2014 season. If you would like to run or walk on a Saturday afternoon with like minded people, or perhaps improve your speed and fitness, come along and try the club out.
All abilities catered for! Follow this link to the club's promotional flyer: Scottish-flyer-MARCH-2014.pdf
We look forward to seeing you all back again next week - only one more race to go, until we have a "rest" for winter.
